Cholecystectomy, Gallbladder Surgery in Atlanta, GA

The Cholecystectomy is procedure removes the gallbladder for those suffering from gallstones or chronic inflammation of the gallbladder. The surgery is performed laparoscopically and on an outpatient basis which allows for reduced recovery time, less pain and virtually no visible scarring.

By using very small incisions in the abdomen (through which the medical devices are passed) and a high definition camera, the surgeon can perform the procedure without ever having to look into the abdomen, avoiding the risks and recovery considerations associated with a traditional, open incision.

Recovery time will vary depending on the patient’s ability to heal, however most patients will leave the surgical facility on the day of surgery and will be back to work and performing normal activities within one to two weeks.

After the gallbladder is removed, it will be sent to our labs to be biopsied and tested.

As with other specialized surgeries, the overall success of this procedure is strongly influenced by the experience and skill of the surgeon performing it. A surgeon with extensive experience in minimally invasive surgery, will be able to minimize the risks and complication that are be associated with this procedure.
