Overstitch Procedure

As part of our continual dedication to technological advancement, Peachtree Surgical & Bariatrics is proud to be one of the first practices in the United States to use the newest suture/stitch technology – the Overstitch TM Endoscopic Suturing System. This revolutionary system has made suturing during and after minimally invasive surgery safer, quicker and more accurate than ever.

The Overstitch TM device allows the surgeon to create sutures similar to those normally done by hand. We use this device to reconstruct the original opening that you had after your original surgery that now may have stretched out allowing you to eat more than you should and therefore resulting in some weight regain. It allows us to revise the pouch and the connection between the pouch and the small bowel so that when you eat, you can get a sensation of fullness like you did when you first had the surgical procedure in order to get the weight off again.

The Overstitch TM system can deploy both absorbable and non-absorbable sutures and their unique cinching system eliminates the need to tie surgical knots as is normally done when suturing by hand.
